Former Post Commander Laid to Rest

A Military Funeral service was held for former Post Commander Roger A. Ochs on 16 September 2019 at the Massachusetts State Veterans' Cemetery in Agawam, Massachusetts. Members of Roger's family, his friends and associates from the Suffiend Players and members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2083 in East Hartford, CT attended the service.

The service was conducted by representatives of the United States Army National Guard and the staff at the Veterans' Cemetery. Military honors included a ceremony in the Cemetery Chapel, a three-volley rifle salute, the sounding of 'taps' and the presentation of the casket flag to the next of kin.

In addition to the U.S. flag presented to Roger's daughter, Tanya Ochs, by the Honor Guard, a folded flag in a display case was presented to Roger's long-time partner and caregiver Ms. Kimberly LaChance of Bristol CT. This presentation was made on behalf of V.F.W. Post 2083 by Service Officer John Blanchette, Surgeon Joseph St. John, Chaplain Daniel Lareau and Commander Timothy Gleason.
